What this service offers
This is not about rushing into medication or handing you off to someone else. It’s about helping you make a thoughtful, informed decision.
Through this optional service, you can:
Access a psychiatric consultation without navigating the system alone
Receive expert recommendations around diagnosis, treatment, and medication (if appropriate)
Continue therapy with ongoing support to integrate those recommendations
Your therapist will be with you in the virtual psychiatrist appointment, and you’ll have guidance at every step so nothing feels overwhelming or unclear.
How It Works
-
Step 1: Determine with your therapist if a psychiatric consult would be helpful
During your session with your therapist, discuss if a diagnosis or medication recommendation would be helpful to your mental health treatment plan.
-
Step 2: Get Connected
If appropriate, we’ll prepare a referral for your primary care practitioner (ex., family doctor) to complete, then we can connect you with a psychiatrist through Psychotherapy Matters.
-
Step 3: Attend your consultation
You’ll receive a comprehensive assessment and personalized recommendations.
-
Step 4: Ongoing support
We continue working together in therapy, integrating those recommendations into your care.
