Emotional Regulation Therapy Across Ontario

Support for children, teens, and adults struggling with intense emotions, anxiety, stress, impulsivity, emotional shutdown, and feeling overwhelmed.

When Emotions Feel Too Big or Too Difficult to Manage

Many people struggle to understand, process, or manage overwhelming emotions. Emotional regulation difficulties can affect relationships, parenting, school, work, confidence, and overall wellbeing, and can sometimes be associated with diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, and more.

You may find yourself:

  • reacting quickly or impulsively

  • feeling emotionally overwhelmed

  • shutting down emotionally

  • struggling to calm yourself after stress

  • feeling constantly on edge

  • experiencing intense anxiety or irritability

  • feeling emotionally exhausted

Emotional regulation is not about “getting rid” of emotions. It is about learning how to better understand emotions, respond more effectively, and feel more grounded during difficult moments.

Therapy can help you develop healthier coping strategies, increase emotional awareness, and build practical tools for managing emotional stress more effectively.

My Approach to Emotional Regulation

Therapy is tailored to each person’s individual experiences, emotional needs, and goals. Sessions will incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness strategies, and nervous system regulation tools.

With teens and children, we will integrate different activities or games to learn and practice skills. This helps therapy feel more “fun” and relevant to their lives.
